The Mainland Media Story
In 2005, Anthony Ramirez II and John Martin were working at the same nonprofit in The Bronx-- Anthony on a youth services program and John on an economic development program. Although they attended high school together, it wasn't until the two began working on behalf of Bronxites that they realized their shared Bronx pride. After searching for posters of The Bronx to hang on their office walls, and after many months of discussion, the two decided that they were going to take the initiative and begin producing their own wall posters and other Bronx-themed memorabilia. Today, the BronxPosters.com online store includes a growing catalogue of Bronx posters, postcards, mugs, t-shirts and other high quality gift items. In addition to creating their own Bronx designs, the two also work with Bronx-based artists to reproduce their artwork for resale. Anthony Ramirez II Anthony grew up in the Parkchester section of The Bronx. After graduating with an economics degree from Columbia University, he moved back to The Bronx and began to administer after school programs for the borough's youth. In addition to continuing his work with teens throughout New York City, Anthony dedicates his time hanging out with his girlfriend and watching movies. John Martin John grew up in the great Bronx neighborhood of Woodlawn. After attending high school with Anthony, he received his BA from Binghamton University and then his MA in Political Science from Columbia University. Today, John is a full-time law student at St. John's University Law School in Queens.
